Notes:

A Bloody Mary in the morning is the best way to get over a hang over. I like them extra hot so I add a few more dashes of tobasco sauce; it eases the pain that much quicker. There are other things that you can use instead of tomato juice, mostly I have heard of using V8. I wouldn’t use one of those bloody mary mixes, it’s not that hard to add tobasco sause and worchester sauce to your favorite tomato juice.

Note:

This is a GREAT drink! I can’t remember how many of these I have had in my drinking lifetime, but it is probably more than any other mixed drink. There’s not too many variations that I have seen with this drink except for the ratio of irish cream to irish whiskey. I have seen it half-and-half, I have seen it without irish whiskey or just a splash. I like the 1/4 to 3/4 ratio, but experiment yourself with such a fantastic drink!

Notes:

I use a very smokey scotch for my smokey martini. I found the Laphroaig 15 year gives me the smokiness that I am looking for in my smokey martini. Also, when it comes to the gin I use, I usually stick with something nice, but nothing with underlying flavors. I wouldn’t use Hendrick’s Gin for this since there is the cucumber flavoring that can distract from the smokiness of the scotch. If I had to go with my favorite gin for this martini, I’d go with New Amsterdam Gin which is delicious but relatively cheap! The best of both worlds!

So, since I haven’t posted on Drink Some More for AGES! I feel that I need a kick in the pants and a reboot of DSM.

In the coming weeks, I am going to be transforming DSM into a place where you can come and find drink recipes and reviews on alcoholic products. I think I spread myself too thin trying to make DSM an all-around drinking blog, and I want to focus on alcohol (of course!)

Hope all the readers that have this in their RSS feed won’t be mad at the up-coming changes, and I hope to make Drink Some More a great blog finally!

Until next time,

On the day that The Dark Knight was opening, we could not get any tickets. So my room mate and I decided to call up a few friends to make some Batman inspired drinks.

This was the first time that I ever attempted to make up a drink by myself, so I was a little nervous. My room mate and a couple of the friends we invited over were bartenders once in their life so they had a little easier time with this.

Two face versus The Dark Knight (Drop Shot)
1/2 pint of Guiness
1/2 shot of Starbucks Coffee Liquor
1/2 shot of Sambuca

This was my attempt at a drink. I like the layering effect you can get from the sambuca and coffee liquor, and when you drank it, the taste was pretty good. Unfortunately it is nothing like the taste of a car-bomb, which I think is heavenly.

Batman and Robin
1/2 shot of Campari
1/2 shot of Jagermeister

This drink was from one of the invited bar tenders. I have to say personally the Campari was soo over powering that the shot was horrible. We did try to make a second variation of this shot using 1/4 shot of Chambord, 1/4 shot of vodka, and 1/2 shot of Jagermeister. This was more palitable, but you lost the sharp contrast.

Over all, it was an enjoyable event in place of seeing The Dark Knight opening night. We all did see the movie the next morning, however, and it was GREAT! I highly recommend it!
